Our Beginning
Dr. Carla Schulz founded Family Medicine Specialists, P.C. in 1990.
First location was 5th Avenue Medical Building.
Dr. Nancy Angenend joined Dr. Schulz in August 1995
Dr. Jill Flory joined Family Medicine Specialists in 1997.
Dr. Tammy O'Brien joined in 1998. At that time the office was called "Schulz, Angenend, Flory and O'Brien" and was located at 860 2nd Avenue.
Chad Davis, a Physician Assistant, started in October 2003.
Business name changed to Family Medicine Specialists when Dr. Sterling joined the practice in August 2005.
Moved to current location, 500 8th Avenue SE, in November 2005. The building is 12,470 square feet and has 19 exam rooms.
Served 8,686 patients in 2007.
The Flood in June 2008 forced us to move back to previous location of 860 2nd Ave for 3 months. We also started the planned movement to electronic medical records sooner with the paper records located elsewhere.
Jennifer Berns, PA-C started in January 2010.
Dr. Katherine Hopper joined the practice in February 2017.
Family Medicine Specialists currently employs 31 people including the providers and serves over 14,500 patients!
