About

Each year 200,000 children are born with congenital clubfoot birth defect and millions of children are left untreated to live with this debilitating birth defect. Fortunately clubfoot is easily corrected with the noninvasive Ponseti Treatment Method that eliminates costly and painful surgeries by utilizing a series of gentle manipulations of the foot (feet), plaster castings and bracing. Clubfoot Solutions is a 501(c)(3) that is responsible for manufacturing and delivering the premier clubfoot brace that is changing lives worldwide.

The Ponseti Treatment Method was pioneered by Dr. Ignacio Ponseti at the University of Iowa and is the acknowledged gold standard of treatment for clubfoot – delivering a 97% correction rate through noninvasive treatment. Two nonprofit organizations work in tandem to deliver the Ponseti Treatment Method to children around the world: Clubfoot Solutions and Ponseti International Association (PIA). Ponseti International Association trains physicians and health care providers to treat clubfoot with the Ponseti Treatment Method and Clubfoot Solutions provides the world’s most cost effective and state of the art brace to ensure the treated foot remains corrected.

The Iowa Brace was developed by Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Jose Morcuende, Professor of Biomedical Engineering Nicole Grosland, and Professor Emeritus of Public Health and Physical Therapy Thomas Cook. The development team at the University of Iowa worked with Clubfoot Solutions' manufacturing partner, BBC International, an American-owned footwear company with Chinese manufacturing operations. The renowned expertise of the University of Iowa’s orthopedic department, biomedical engineering, and international public health colleges made the Iowa Brace a reality. It is affordable, innovative, durable, and comfortable.
