About

House District 82 needs effective, strong representation that fights for the things we all care about. We need strong public schools, affordable and accessible healthcare, and an economy that works for our small towns and rural communities. Explore our website, and please reach out to me if you have any questions. I hope to earn your vote in November. About Me Growing up on a family farm and being an active 4-H member fostered a love of caring for animals that led me to earn a degree in veterinary medicine from Iowa State University. After graduating, I joined a veterinary practice in Fairfield, which I now operate. Many residents of Jefferson County, both in our towns and on our farms, have gotten to know and rely on me to care for their pets and livestock. My wife Connie and I have been active members of the community for decades. I served as President of the Fairfield Community School District Board of Directors and as a member of the Jefferson County Board of Health, which deepened my understanding of the needs of our community. Connie was the former secretary at Washington Elementary School in Fairfield for over 20 years, and is now retired. We are active members of the First United Methodist Church, where I have served on many committees and on the church council. I also filled out a term as your State Representative, after winning a special election to fill the vacancy left by Curt Hanson, wherein I gained hands-on experience advocating for the needs of our community in the Legislature. I have been out of office for two years and would be pleased to represent you once again. Connie and I are the proud parents of four adult children, Andy, Dan, Jane and Joe. In my spare time, I enjoy reading about American history, doing yard work, following national league baseball, singing in the church choir and, most of all, grandparenting.
