WOLFE EYE CLINIC Congratulations Dr. Anne Langguth Pediatric Ophthalmologist Serving Cedar Rapids, lowa City and Waterloo Congratulations to Dr. Anne Langguth on her HER Women of Achievement award for 2021! Dr. Langguth is the first board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist to serve the Cedar Rapids community, is a gifted advocate for both physicians and families seeking access to care, and has consistently impressed her colleagues, staff and patients with her willingness to dedicate time to serving those in need. She is an outspoken passionate champion for children's vision. Dr. Langguth grew up in lowa City and had aspired to become a physician from an early age-even crafting her own white coat from one of her father's old white dress shirts and designing a medical school diploma to be displayed on her bedroom wall. She received her BA in Government and Health Policy from Harvard University, MD from the University of lowa College of Medicine, and completed her post-graduate medical and surgical sub-specialty training at New York University (NY, NY), Northwestern University (Chicago, IL), and again at the University of lowa. Being raised in eastern lowa, Dr. Langguth has expressed that she always knew she wanted to serve the people in her local community. Dr. Langguth sees patients at Wolfe Eye Clinic in Hiawatha, Waterloo and lowa City, and through her work as a pediatric ophthalmologist provides sight-saving medical and surgical treatments to children and families that prior to her arrival were not available locally to members of our community. She was the first surgeon in the area to perform pediatric eye surgeries in 20+ years; allowing families and children to receive care closer to home. Dr. Langguth led the charge to certify Wolfe Eye Clinic in Hiawatha as a participating clinic in the internationally-renowned Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group; this move will allow her and her patients to be a part of ophthalmology research designed to provide the highest-quality vision outcomes for children. In addition, she volunteers her time with the Distinguished Young Women program of lowa and the Harvard Admissions Committee to encourage and promote careers in STEM for women.
