About

Born and raised in northeastern Iowa, Emmett Donnelly grew up embracing and appreciating the agricultural importance of the area. Taking a break from the family farm, Emmett spent his Saturday mornings as a child at the local livestock sale barn, which sparked an interest in the auctioneering field and prompted Emmett to attend the Reisch Worldwide College of Auctioneering in 1978. Following his graduation from the University of Northern Iowa in 1981, Emmett became the general owner and operator of the Independence Livestock Sales Company, the very business that encouraged him to pursue auctioneering as a boy. With his establishment in the auction business, Emmett ventured into different aspects of the industry. In 2003, Emmett earned his Certified General Real Property Appraiser license from the state of Iowa. Since acquiring his license, Emmett has appraised commercial, residential, and agricultural properties for government agencies like FEMA and the USDA, national and local loaning institutions, as well as the private sector. Emmett has a credible and extensive background in marketing and selling farm equipment and land, business liquidations, antiques and collectibles, personal property, guns and sportsman items (Emmett is Federal Firearms licensed), and real estate. A member of both the Iowa Auctioneers Association and the National Auctioneers Association, Emmett Donnelly has the experience conducting auctions for federal agencies, state institutions, banks, private estates, households, farms, and charitable organizations.
