Dr. Brian J. Howe grew up in La Crescent, MN, a small town in southeastern Minnesota. He attended Luther College in Decorah, IA for his undergraduate degree and then attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA to attain his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. Before moving to Iowa City, Dr. Howe practiced general dentistry in Madison, WI for 5 years. After moving to Iowa City, Dr. Howe attained extra training in Oral Pathology from the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry and earned a master’s degree in oral biology. He currently does clinical research in cleft lip andor palate focusing on dental anomalies and phenotypes in this population with the University of Iowa and collaborates with the University of Pittsburgh.

In addition to working at River City Dental care, Dr. Howe teaches 4th year dental students one a week at the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry, Department of Family Dentistry as an adjunct associate clinical professor. He loves to teach and tries to incorporate that into his practice.
