About

Kalona Veterinary Clinic, P.C. was originally established in 1977, when Dr. Yoder moved home after working in a practice in Belle Plaine Iowa. After seven years of practicing, he built the current location in 1984 and ten years later, Dr. Slabaugh joined the practice. We are a mixed animal practice serving the veterinary health care needs of both large and small animals, including swine, cattle, sheep and goats. Under Dr. Slabaugh’s guidance, our small animal practice has grown tremendously with clients coming from as far away as North Liberty, Tiffin, Coralville, Iowa City, Lone Tree, Washington and other rural areas in the surrounding communities. People bring their pets to us because they’ve heard of the many services and treatment options we offer, but they stay with us because of how they are treated. At Kalona Veterinary Clinic, you are never just a number – you and your pet are an important part of who we are, and we consider you to be our most cherished asset. We are a full service veterinary health care facility offering a broad range of complete medical, dental, diagnostic and surgical services. We place a strong emphasis on wellness and preventative care, we are well equipped and fully prepared to deal with the medical needs that may arise for your animal companion. Our patients include a wide variety of small and large animals, from dogs and cats, to pocket pets, like hamsters, mice and guinea pigs, and livestock. We have a special interest in swine medicine and offer complete health care services, both within the clinic as well as on-site through our farm call services. Whether the animal you share your life with meows, barks, or snorts, we’re prepared to work with you – every step of the way – to extend and improve their life and make their years with you as happy and healthy as possible.
