Kraus Plumbing and Heating LLC was founded in Monticello, Iowa in 1973 by Mike Kraus. When Mike started the company, his intention was to serve the Jones county area by providing superior plumbing and heating services to the community. Forty-four years later in 2017, Mike’s son, Brian, purchased the company from his father, making Kraus a second-generation plumbing and heating company. Brian shared his dad’s vision for the company and was proud to carry on the Kraus tradition of excellent service and dedication to their customers. He also had dreams of expanding those services, and their service area, to include Linn County.
In 2021, Brian Kraus also acquired Fosters Heating and Air Conditioning, which is based in Marion, IA. Fosters is a highly reputable Heating and Cooling company with over 50 years of service to customers in the Cedar Rapids / Marion area.
The purchase and recent partnership of the two companies has allowed Brian to expand Kraus’s service area, and also to expand the Fosters Heating and Air Conditioning branch by adding residential and commercial plumbing services to the list of services offered by Fosters.
Two of Brian’s sons are also involved with the family business, ensuring that the Kraus legacy of superior sales and service continues into the next generation.
