About

Hawkeye Gymnastics evolved out of the University of Iowa’s Department of Recreational Services Lesson Programs, and was started in 1996 when Recreational Services hired Daniel Coon to direct the program. The gymnastics program was originally composed of recreational and competitive gymnastics for girls.

In 2002, the program was released to Dan to convert to a private business with continued location in the North Gym of the Field House. Since then the business has developed considerably and has been increasing enrollment for boys’ and girls’ gymnastics classes each year.

At the same time, Coon continued directorship of the Iowa Boys Invitational, founded in 1982 by former Iowa Gymnast, Kelly Crumley. The meet has now been running over 30 consecutive years, annually fielding over 400 competitors from all over the country.

In February, 2012, Hawkeye Gymnastics moved from the Field House to its present, 9000 sq. foot, location in North Liberty, IA. The program provides the best in gymnastics instruction, coaching, leadership, innovation in pre-school gymnastics classes, and recreational & competitive gymnastics lessons.
We also offer fitness classes and gymnastics classes for adults. Whether you are looking for basic gymnastics classes or advanced lessons, we have the perfect classes for you.
