Washington County Secondary Roads Mechanic Individual reports to Road Maintenance Superintendent & Shop Foreman. Diagnoses, services, repairs, or replaces mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic parts & components in gas or diesel powered vehicles, trucks & construction/maintenance equipment owned by the county. Responsible to maintain & repair shop buildings & related equipment. Must be able to use shop tools & equipment as well as welder and cutting torch. Will provide technical assistance to equipment operators on servicing, repairing, & preventative maintenance on their assigned equipment. Assists in maintaining County equipment records and assists Shop Foreman in ordering supplies, parts, & materials. High school diploma and 7 year's experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or satisfactory completion of technical training in mechanical equipment repair at a recognized trade or community college and 3 years experience or ASE Certified Mechanic & 5 years of experience required.
