"Washington County is not just a kind-hearted hospital. It's a lifesaver, too!" -Pat Goff Pat Goff (right) loves Washington County Hospital. For her, the hospital has been a real lifesaver. "I had been feeling sick and in bed for three or four days," says Pat. "I finally went to see to my primary care physician, Dr. David Nacos (left), who sent me almost immediately to Washington County Hospital." That's because Pat had contracted sepsis, a life-threatening medical emergency. "When I arrived at the hospital, I've never seen people move so fast to take care of me," she says. Pat also recalls a time when she had to take a 92-year-old friend to the hospital when her friend couldn't bend her knee because of a tear in her meniscus. "We had to take the mini-bus because she couldn't get in my car," says Pat. "She ended up having to stay overnight. The entire staff was so sweet and caring. They really treated her like family." Recently, when Pat was leaving the hospital, she ran into Todd Patterson, the hospital's CEO. "He gave me a big hug," says Pat. "I have to say there's been big change at Washington County Hospital since Todd arrived. I used to drive all the way to lowa City for my medical care. But not anymore. With its excellent doctorsand specialtyclinics, Washington County Hospital is the place for me!"
